  • News from the Poupoulo

We would like to inform you about the drama activities of our theatrical center throughout the previous months:

    • Children’s class: presentation of “The Birds”, (Greek: “Ornithes”), the widely known comedy by the ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes.

In the play, children express their own view on meritocracy, injustice, subjucation and war. They reveal their need for freedom  and democracy for a better and fair society.

    • Junior class: “Peter and the wolf”, a symphonic fairy tale composed by Sergei Prokofiev. Our younger children ,while listening to the    music, combined various techniques, such as motion, shadow theatre, black light theatre.
    • Pre-adolescent class: “Camp of prehistoric hunters”, based on the novel of A.Liniewski, which deals with the power of symbolism. It also reveals that the source of the real power is the moral strength of the society.
    • Adolescent class: “The boy with the suitcase”, by the playwright Mike Kenny. On his journey to London, the boy is armed with his stories   and a new friend. Despite the fact that his new life there is not the heaven on earth, he realizes that happiness will always be with    him, as long as he keeps his stories alive. The play gives teenagers the chance to broaden their imagination and judgement.
    • Adult’s class: “Dionaea muscipula” (as a genus of a carnivorous plant is called): based on the ”Little shop of Horrors”, a black comedy horror film, written by Charles Griffith. The play was performed by our team through the black light theatre technique.
    • 7-14 / 5 / 2017: participation in the 17th Festival Lingue in Scena in Torino organised by the Goethe Institut. In the festival the children presented  ”Odyssey”, the major ancient Greek epic poem, attributed to Homer. The poem focuses on the Greek hero Ulysses, king of Ithaca, and his journey home after the fall pf Troy.

We are looking forward to our participation in the !2th Edered youth Encounter  in Denmark in 19-30 of July.

    Best regards,

    the team of ‘Poupoulo’
